Government statistics are published one report at a time. Comparing a figure across twenty years means opening twenty documents and reconciling them by hand. We have already done that while we show you the page every number came from.
What we have already built
General Household Survey National Explorer
Nineteen published editions of Statistics South Africa’s General Household Survey (P0318), 2002 to 2025, restructured into a single comparable archive. Education, health, energy, water and sanitation, housing, income, transport and agriculture — each series traceable to the table and page it came from.
Municipal intelligence portals
Financial and service-delivery dashboards built from published annual reports, under the same sourcing discipline as the national archive:
- City of Johannesburg — 2003/04 to 2024/25
- City of Cape Town — 2012/13 to 2024/25
- City of Ekurhuleni — 2011/12 to 2024/25
- City of Tshwane — 2016/17 to 2024/25

Why DataflixSA is different
Most data sites tell you what the number is. We tell you where it came from.
Traceable to the page
Every figure carries the edition, table number and page it was printed on. Follow any number back to the government document it came from.
Nothing invented
No interpolation, no values carried forward, no gap quietly filled. Where the source suppressed a figure, we say so. Where an edition is missing, we name it.
Built for analysis
Long-format data, consistent topic names across two decades of renumbered tables, and CSV export on every chart and table.
The standard we hold ourselves to
- We publish what the source published. Figures are transcribed as printed, including the source’s own thousands separators and suppression markers.
- Suppressed is not zero. Where a figure was withheld because the sample was too small, we carry the marker through and never plot it as a value.
- Conflicts are logged, not resolved. Where two editions publish different figures for the same year, we record both and withhold the point rather than quietly pick one.
- Known defects are published alongside the data. Every dataset states what is confirmed, what is partial, and what is still outstanding.
